Choose your kind of Pakistan tour
Pakistan suits very different travellers. Some come for glaciers and high passes, others for Mughal architecture, living festivals or places of faith. Grouping our guided tours in Pakistan by experience makes it easier to find a trip that matches your interests and fitness, and every one can be run privately or for a small group. Mountain trips run from spring to autumn, while heritage tours are most comfortable in the cooler months.
Trekking, adventure and motorbike tours
- Trekking & Hiking: day hikes and longer treks in the Karakoram, including the walk to Fairy Meadows beneath Nanga Parbat.
- Adventure: jeep trips across the Deosai plains, which open from about mid-June to mid-October, and camping in the high valleys.
- Motorbike: guided rides on the Karakoram Highway, which climbs to the Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 metres on the China border.
Festival and seasonal tours
Pakistan's festivals are one of the best ways to meet its communities. Our Seasonal & Festival trips are timed around Chilam Joshi, the Kalash spring festival in mid-May, and Uchal, their harvest celebration in August. Each summer the Shandur Polo Festival, held in June in recent years, brings teams from Gilgit and Chitral to a polo ground at about 3,700 metres, the highest in the world. Festival dates are set locally and can move by a few days, so we confirm them before you book flights.
Culture, heritage and pilgrimage
- Cultural & Heritage: Lahore's Mughal monuments, Peshawar's bazaars, the Indus city of Mohenjo-daro and the tombs of Makli.
- Pilgrimage: journeys to Buddhist sites of ancient Gandhara, such as Taxila and Takht-i-Bahi, and to the Sufi shrines of Punjab and Sindh.
Road trips and sightseeing
- Road Trips: the Karakoram Highway past Attabad Lake, the Babusar Pass in summer and the Makran Coastal Highway in winter, with an experienced driver.
- Sightseeing: relaxed city tours, starting with Islamabad, the Faisal Mosque and the viewpoints of the Margalla Hills.
