February

February

The best places to visit in Pakistan in February are the dry, mild south, historic Lahore and the snowy ski slopes of Swat, with Hingol National Park on the Balochistan coast at its most comfortable. February also brings the Sibi Mela and, by the end of the month, the first spring days in Islamabad.

Pakistan in February at a glance

February is still winter in the mountains, but the plains start to warm. From the last week of the month, Islamabad and the Margalla Hills enter one of their most pleasant spells, which lasts into mid-April. Karachi and the Makran coast are dry and mild, a good match for beach walks and long drives.

In Gilgit-Baltistan the cold holds on. The Babusar Pass and the Deosai Plains stay closed, while Hunza remains reachable along the Karakoram Highway.

Best places to visit in Pakistan in February

  • Hingol and the Makran coast: drive the coastal highway west from Karachi past Kund Malir to the mud volcanoes and wind-carved rock formations of Hingol. The 8 Days Balochistan Hingol National Park Tour covers this route.
  • Lahore: cool days suit long walks through the Walled City, the Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. The fort and the Shalimar Gardens are both on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
  • Karachi: Clifton beach and the seafront are at their most pleasant in the dry, mild weather.
  • Malam Jabba: February tends to be the snowiest month at the Swat ski resort.
  • Skardu in February: few visitors, snow on the surrounding peaks and crisp, clear days.

Is Skardu open in February

It is. Skardu can be reached by the road from Islamabad or by air, although flights only land when the weather is clear and delays of a day or more are normal in winter. Expect sub-zero nights and limited heating in smaller guesthouses.

Festivals and events in February

  • Sibi Mela: Balochistan's best-known fair has been held in Sibi each February for more than a century, with a livestock show, camel and horse races, tent pegging, handicrafts and folk dancing. Exact dates are set each year.
  • Basant in Lahore: in 2026 Lahore allowed its spring kite festival for three days in early February, the first time in 18 years, under strict safety rules. Whether it returns in later years is decided by the Punjab government.

Visitors bound for Sibi or Hingol should note that foreign nationals may need a Balochistan NOC. We confirm the requirement when you book and handle the application.
