1 Day Lahore Cultural Tour

Lahore

A Lahore tour takes you through the cultural capital of Pakistan, from the UNESCO-listed Lahore Fort and Shalamar Gardens to the Badshahi Mosque, the painted Wazir Khan Mosque and the food streets of the Walled City. We guide day tours and longer trips with local experts who know the old lanes well.

Why visit Lahore

Lahore was one of the great cities of the Mughal Empire, and it still shows. Emperors Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb all built here, leaving palaces, mosques and gardens within a short drive of each other. Around them sits Androon Lahore, the old Walled City, where bazaars, havelis and Sufi shrines keep the place busy from early morning to late at night.

Lahoris are proud of their food, their poets and their hospitality, and a first visit rarely feels long enough.

Places to visit in Lahore

  • Lahore Fort: listed by UNESCO in 1981 with the Shalamar Gardens. Look for the Sheesh Mahal, Shah Jahan's hall of mirrors from 1631, and the Alamgiri Gate.
  • Badshahi Mosque: built by Aurangzeb between 1671 and 1673, facing the fort across the Hazuri Bagh.
  • Wazir Khan Mosque: completed in 1641 near Delhi Gate and covered in kashi-kari tile work and frescoes.
  • Shalamar Gardens: Shah Jahan's terraced Mughal garden, laid out in 1641 and 1642.
  • Wagah Border: the flag-lowering ceremony held at sunset every evening on the road to India.

Late October to March is the most comfortable period, with mild days that suit long walks around the monuments. February and March are the pick of the season, as spring skies are usually clear. From November to January smog can hang over the city, and from May to August daytime heat often reaches 40°C, with monsoon rain in July and August.
