Why visit Thailand

Thailand gives good value and a lot of variety in one trip. Bangkok has the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and huge shopping malls; the Andaman coast has limestone cliffs, clear water and boat trips to the Phi Phi Islands; and the north around Chiang Mai is cooler, greener and slower. It works equally well as a honeymoon or a family holiday.

Eating well is rarely a problem. Halal restaurants are easy to find in Bangkok, and the southern provinces around Krabi and Phuket have long-established Muslim communities.

Best time to visit Thailand

  • November to February: the cool, dry season and the best weather for Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the Andaman beaches. It is also the busiest and most expensive period.
  • March to May: the hot season, with high temperatures in Bangkok. Beaches are still good and prices start to fall.
  • June to October: the rainy season on the Andaman coast, with rougher seas around Phuket and Krabi. Koh Samui, on the Gulf side, often has better weather in these months.

Thailand visa for Pakistani passport holders

Pakistani passport holders need a visa before travelling to Thailand. Applications go through Thailand's official e-Visa system, which the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad uses for Pakistani applicants. Visa rules change often, so we check the current requirements when you enquire.

Places to visit in Thailand

  • Bangkok: the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, a Chao Phraya river cruise, and a day trip to the old capital of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Phuket: beaches, viewpoints and boat trips to Phang Nga Bay.
  • Krabi: Railay Beach, island hopping and a quieter pace than Phuket.
  • Pattaya: an easy drive from Bangkok, popular with families for Coral Island and its theme parks.
  • Chiang Mai: old temples, night bazaars and elephant sanctuaries in the hills.
