Top Places to Visit in Islamabad

Every time I visit Islamabad, I choose a few places to visit. Exploring Islamabad is always a pleasure and fun for me, and I thoroughly enjoy myself there, whether I’m having a cup of coffee at different locations or simply hanging out with my friends. I like to go shopping every now and then just to treat myself. Islamabad is without a doubt one 🕜 of the must see cities of Pakistan.

Saidpur Village

Saidpur is an excellent destination for experiencing true village life in this technological age. This is one of the most interesting spots in Islamabad. It is an ideal location for tourists who have never visited a village before. While wandering around the square roofed village in the heart of the Margalla hills, tourists can also visit a Hindu temple and a Sikh Gurdwara. Tourists are free to walk down the streets. They can enjoy sitars played by the residents and the simple way of life. As they stroll around the hamlet, they can check-in to the restaurants like Des Pardes and Dera Pakhtoon that will serve sizzling platters.

Shah Allah Ditta Caves

Shah Allah Ditta Caves are one of the best places to visit in Islamabad. It is a historical site in the foothills of Margalla. The Caves are claimed to be 700 years old. It was once a link between Kabul and Gandharan city. Experts estimate that the caves are about 2400 years old. The caves are adorned with Buddhist, Aurangzeb and Hindu relics. If the tourists want to see a beautiful sunset, this is an ideal place in Islamabad. The caves have been transformed into a cosy setting. Visitors can take tea with snacks while listening to the music.

Lok Virsa Museum

In the Lok Virsa museum, there is a lovely display of the distinct culture of Pakistan. The unique attribute of the museum is working with UNESCO with carefully preserved objects and gifts from the organisation. There are many antique pieces on display including pottery, art, religious figures, architectural treasures and musical instruments. Strolling through an outdoor garden leads to nine galleries of Buddhist and Sufi Shrines.

National Art Gallery

Islamabad is home to the first national art gallery of Pakistan. This gallery is situated on a small hillock near the Majlis-e-Shoora (Pakistan’s Parliament) and the Aiwan-e-Sadr. It opened to the public on August 26, 2007. National Art Gallery is a branch of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. There are 14 galleries with adjacent display rooms, lecture halls, workshop and storage facilities, laboratories and a library at the gallery. The structure of the four storey gallery includes modern amenities such as a 400 seat auditorium, stage facilities and an open-air theatre. It is one of the largest monuments of Pakistan.

Margalla Hills

Margalla hills is a range of mountainous but forested terrain reaching up to the Himalayas. The Margalla hills have hiking trails that allow tourists to observe many magnificent natural wonders and the unusual animals found there like Rhesus macaque monkey, the Asian Paradise flycatcher and a rare exotic bird with a long light greyish tail.

Neela Sandh

The Neela Sandh waterfall is located in Mori Syedan, Lehtrar Road, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Tourists can visit this waterfall for a day trip. It’s only 38 kilometres (55 minutes) away from Islamabad. It is surrounded by lush greenery, trees and mountains that remain covered in snow all year round. Tourists visit there with families to have fun. This is a fantastic and ideal location for swimming in cool, pure water.

Bruti Waterfall

Bruti waterfalls and turquoise ponds lead to the highest point in the Margalla mountains. It is a good place for regaining and boosting energy. This is a popular place because of the vast space for swimming. Tourists can take a bath in this waterfall.

Shakar Parian

Shakar Parian National Park is located near the Zero Point Interchange in Islamabad. It is an eye-catching location in the city. Tourists can view the metropolitan areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The night view of the city from the park is simply breathtaking. There are two viewpoints in the park. One is in the East and the other is to the West. The oldest picnic area is at the Eastern viewpoint with a beautiful fountain and plenty of greenery. There is a small pine tree garden in the park. It is undoubtedly a lovely place to spend an evening with friends and family.

Rose and Jasmine Garden

Roses and jasmine are two of the most beautiful flowers ever created to add colour to the earth. Getting away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the beautiful blossoms at Rose and Jasmine Garden is fun. There is a vast variety of roses and Jasmine. During the summer, tourists are able to enjoy a flower show in the garden.

Hiking Trail 5

Dara Janglan is the popular name for Hiking Trail 5, one of the most popular trails in Islamabad. This is the best point for the tourists who want to enjoy environmental activities. The hiking trail is easier for everyone. Tourists begin hiking from Margalla Road and finish it in two to three hours, depending on their stamina.

Art and Craft Village

Art and Craft Village is a wonderful place if tourists want to enjoy cultural artefacts, traditional art and crafts. One cannot find such types of traditional, cultural and antique artefacts from all over Pakistan that won’t be found in any other marketplace or store. It covers all cultural facts about Pakistan, such as the journey of the fundamental roots of the country. Tourists can purchase vintage models of cultural art and crafts to decorate their homes.
