Hunza Valley is a bewildering combination of magnificent high-altitude landscapes, historical forts and orchids of organic food. Tourists always prefer to visit Hunza Valley because of its mild climate, however the best time to visit is between April and October. During summer the temperature remains around 27°C. Rakaposhi

The perspective of Rakaposhi comes first and foremost. This 7,788 metres high “killer mountain” is visible from anywhere in Hunza. Rakaposhi means “Shining Wall” in Japanese. The sunrise and sunset views from Rakaposhi are simply breathtaking. The mountain is surrounded by some well known glaciers, such as Barpu, Biro, Bagrot, Pisan etc.

Karimabad

Karimabad is the most beautiful settlement in Hunza. It greets you with golden sand and stunning natural scenery. Because of the vibrant colours of apricot and cherry trees, the site has a festive atmosphere. Karimabad is a good spot for adventurous activities like water sports or just relaxing in the sun. The small Karimabad Market gives a glimpse of Hunza valley culture. The location is famous for its history. It was owned by the Royal family. Some of the famous landmarks in Karimabad are Baltit Fort, Queen Victoria Monument, Channel Walk etc.

Altit Fort

Altit Fort is located in Karimabad. It was the hereditary of the rulers. Altit Fort was owned by a former Mir around 1100 years ago but now it is used as a museum. The fort is an architectural and artistic site. The Aga Khan Culture Trust rebuilt it in order to preserve it for future generations.
The royal garden and the settlement surround the Altit fort. It is a living legacy. Old women, dressed traditionally, sit there gossiping. There was a swimming pool which was converted into a skating rink for the winter.

Baltit Fort

Baltit Fort is another must visit attraction in the Hunza Valley. The fort is thought to be 600 years old however, there have been rebuilds and adjustments over the centuries. The castle perched on its giant legs above Karimabad. It is a Hunza landmark with wooden windows overlooking the valley. The first was the residence of the Mir of Hunza. The rulers were forced to relocate to Altit Fort due to a feud between his two sons. The fort is the highest point in the Bazaar, from where tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Attabad Lake

Attabad Lake is one of the most picturesque locations in Hunza Valley. The crystal clear turquoise water spellbinds anyone within the massive mountains of the Karakoram range. The colours and charm of the spring season are breathtaking. Every year, a large number of tourists visit this prominent lake which is 13 miles long and over 358 feet deep.

Passu Cones

The Passu Cones, a popular tourist destination, is located in a small village of Passu in Gojal (Hunza) valley. There are so many beautiful scenic attractions in Passu such as Passu Sar, Passu Glacier and Mount Tu Popdan, also known as Passu Cones. At 6,106 metres above sea level, this is the highest mountain in the area.
The Passu Cones are named after the pointed peaks that resemble cones. Passu Cones are l in the background of Hussaini Bridge, giving the tourists a dreamlike feeling. This area is popular among the trekkers and hikers.

Rush Lake

Rush lake is another stunning site in Nagar, Hunza Valley. Nagar is one of the most beautiful valleys of Hunza where Rush Lake, an alpine lake, lies on an elevation of 4,694 metres. The lake is surrounded by lofty mountains, and is known as the highest lake of Pakistan.

Sost Border

Sost is the last settlement of Hunza along the Karakoram Highway, near the China border. This town is an important stopover on the highway for all passenger and cargo travel because all traffic crossing the Pakistan-China border passes through it. Khunjerab National Park is located here. It is a wonderful manifestation of friendship between Pakistan and China.

Gulmit

Gulmit is a popular tourist destination in Hunza, located between the Upper and Lower Gojal valley. The panoramic views and colossal colours of the entire valley including the Passu Cones are breathtaking.
Gulmit is a complete package for the tourists with high peaks, landmarks and a pleasant climate. The valley serves as a gateway to five other places such as Shimshal Valley, Chipursan Valley, Misgar Valley, Boibar Valley, Khunjerab Pass.

Borith Lake

Borith is a mesmerising saline lake in Gulmit, surrounded by large plains of the valley. This lake is 25000 metres above sea level and fed by the Ghulkin Glacier which makes it a lifesaver for trekkers to the Passu Alps. 2 kilometres jeep track leads to the lake from Hussaini village. The village lies parallel to Ghulkin village.

Hussaini Suspension Bridge

The Hussaini Bridge is an adventurous spot which has 400 steps over the running water, from one end of the bridge to other. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hunza. Although the bridge is stable and safe, some tourists find it frightening. The hikers test their nerves while crossing it. There are a few stalls selling locally grown dry fruits. Fresh cherry juice is a must try here.

Hopar Valley

Hopar Valley is a group of towns based on a natural bowl formed by the curve of Baltoro Glacier. The Barpu Glacier joins the white Baltoro from the other side. Hopar glacier encircles Hopar valley on three sides. Hopper Glacier is a glacier accessible by a short hike from Karimabad and takes about 45 minutes to reach from Karimabad. This glacier is distinguished by its grey-black coloration. The beautiful Hopar Valley is home to the Spantik and Hopar glacier.

Khunjerab National Park

It is a high altitude park in Pakistan where many endangered and threatened species of animals are protected, such as the Snow leopard, Marco Polo sheep and Himalayan Ibex.
It’s only a few kilometres from Sost, in the middle of China and Pakistan border. The Khunjerab Pass is the highest paved border checkpoint at 16000 feet above sea level, which inspired the name of Park.
