Why visit Greece

Greece is where much of European history begins. The Acropolis in Athens, the sanctuary of Delphi and the monasteries of Meteora are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and they sit within a few hours of each other on the mainland. Add a ferry to the islands and the trip changes pace completely, with clear blue water, harbour-side tavernas and long summer evenings.

Best time to visit Greece

  • April to June: warm days, spring flowers and fewer crowds at the ancient sites. A good choice for families and couples.
  • July and August: the hottest and busiest months, with full ferries and heavy demand for island hotels.
  • September and October: the sea is still warm and the summer rush has eased, which makes island hopping easier.
  • November to March: cool and quiet, fine for Athens and its museums, but ferry timetables are reduced and many island hotels close for the season.

Greece visa for Pakistani passport holders

Greece is part of the Schengen area, so Pakistani passport holders need a Schengen visa arranged before travel. A short-stay Schengen visa generally covers visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and applications are made through the Greek consular office in Islamabad or its appointed visa application centre.
